This Privacy Policy explains how the operator of ParentMemo handles information in the ParentMemo app and related website.
02Scope and responsible operator
This policy applies to the ParentMemo app and its related legal website. The service operator is ParentMemo. Privacy inquiries may be sent to csjotlab@gmail.com.
03Information provided by users
Depending on the features you use, this includes your email address, display name, optional profile information, authentication information, child names or nicknames, school, grade and class details, notices, reminders, schedules, notes, results, uploaded images and documents, OCR text, and support communications. Enter only information reasonably needed for the service.
04Information collected automatically
We may collect limited technical information needed to operate and secure the service, including app version, device type, OS version, language, time zone, authentication and security events, subscription-entitlement status, diagnostic information, and network or request metadata. ParentMemo does not collect advertising identifiers, precise location, contacts, microphone recordings, or browsing history through its ordinary features.
05Camera and photo library
Access is requested only when you select a scan, capture, upload, or attachment feature. iOS limited-library access is respected where available. A selected image is processed or stored only as needed to perform the feature you choose. Images you choose to save or synchronize may be uploaded to cloud storage.
06On-device OCR
OCR processes selected documents on your device; ParentMemo does not send them to a cloud OCR provider for recognition. You may separately choose to save or synchronize an image, text, notice, result, or other content to cloud storage. OCR and cloud storage are separate operations. OCR results may contain errors.
07Purposes of processing
We process appropriately limited information to create and maintain accounts; authenticate users; provide app features; save and synchronize content; perform user-requested OCR; create reminders and notifications; manage subscriptions and entitlements; provide support; prevent abuse; diagnose failures; comply with law; and improve accessibility, reliability, and performance.
08Legal bases and consent
Depending on applicable law and context, processing may be necessary to perform our agreement, based on consent, required by law, or supported by legitimate interests such as security. In Japan, purposes of use are identified and published as specifically as reasonably possible. This summary is not legal advice for every jurisdiction.
09Child-related information
ParentMemo is for parents, guardians, and authorized caregivers, not for children to create accounts independently. The account holder must have authority to provide child-related information. We do not knowingly seek information directly from children. Contact csjotlab@gmail.com about deletion concerns.
10Service providers and recipients
Supabase processes account data and selected User Content for authentication, database services, and storage. Apple App Store and Google Play process transaction and entitlement information when their services are used; they handle payment-card data under their own policies. Operating-system providers may process information needed to provide notifications. Sharing initiated by you follows your direction.
11Data sharing
We do not sell personal information or use school documents for advertising. Information may be disclosed to service providers necessary to operate ParentMemo, at your direction, to comply with law, to protect rights and security, or as part of a legitimate business transfer with appropriate safeguards.
12International processing
Our service providers may process data outside your country under their published infrastructure and processing arrangements. We use reasonable safeguards as required by applicable law.
13Storage and retention
We retain account data and User Content while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. After an account-deletion request is completed, production data is deleted or anonymized unless limited retention is reasonably necessary for legal obligations, fraud prevention, payment disputes, security, or the orderly expiration of backups. Security, purchase, and support records are kept only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes.
14Account and data deletion
You may delete your account using the account-deletion option in the app or request permanent deletion at /parentmemo/delete-account without reinstalling the app. Associated profile data and User Content will be deleted, subject to the limited retention described above. Uninstalling the app does not delete the account. Account deletion does not automatically cancel an Apple or Google subscription; cancel it through the relevant store.
15Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or suspension of use, withdraw consent, object, request portability where applicable, or complain to a competent authority. Rights under Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information apply where its requirements are met. We may verify identity before fulfilling a request.
16Security
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the service, including encrypted network communication, authentication and database access controls, limited administrative access, secure development, backup, and incident-response practices. No system can guarantee absolute security.
17Data breach response
We will investigate suspected incidents, take reasonable corrective action, and notify affected people and authorities when legally required.
18Cookies and website technologies
The legal website uses no non-essential cookies or analytics by default. The deletion form may use an essential, short-lived security token. If analytics are added, this policy and legally required consent controls must be updated.
19Changes to this policy
Material changes will be communicated reasonably, the updated date will be revised, and additional consent will be requested where required.
